Nicely timed photograph bye www.RalfsWorld.com, I had just slipped on the ice and hit my leg against a very sharp rock, I think you can almost see the pain in my face… Even if this event left me most likely scarred for life, I do long to return to Abisko… Soon very very soon.
So finally I am back from the expedition to Abisko, in the absolute north of Sweden. Don’t know exactly how many photos I have with me back from this trip? But it is going to take some time from me to sort through all the material. There was so much reindeer, nature, mountains, northern lights it is hard to put it in to words. Please be patient and stay tuned for more updates with photos.
Finally I managed to get day 3 up from the Abisko trip.

The not very high but mighty Mt.Nuolja is located in #Abisko, #Sweden. In this time lapse sequence it looks quite small and this is due to extreme wide-angle lens. When you actually visit the area you realize it is not so small, especially when you go up on top to the @auroraskystation and look down on the small village of #AbiskoÖstra.
The sequence was shot in extreme wind! Up to 40 m/s on the of 28-02-23.
In some places there are glitches. This is due to tripod being moved by the wind.
The tripod was pushed down in the snow on the lowest most stable sitting imaginable! Legs wide apart and low to the ground…
In one of the corners you can see lens flare caused by small water droplets (rain) and illuminated by the moon.
What you think might be clouds is actually snow blowing off the Mt.#Nuolja.
Well what can I say, shot this one on my backup camera #Fujifilm XT1. While I was using my XT2 to shoot the main scene. The XT1 was left just standing there and doing his job in -25c°. This is their result.
A lot of people ask me how I get these wonderful auroras the key is a good DSLR camera and lots of patience, and I cannot stress about the patience.

Jag undrar om arkitekten som ritade den nuvarande stf-stationen i #Abisko tänkte på norrsken när han ritade rummen? Abisko turiststation tillkom 1903, då @stfturist övertog några ingenjörsbostäder som hade uppförts vid järnvägsbygget på platsen. Abisko Gränsförsvarsmuseum finns i närheten av turiststationen.
